- I've haven't been keeping the trend with PC technology lately.
- However, I have the feeling that Power PCs didn't market any where near as
- well as intended in comparison to the Pentium.
- Intel really spent a lot of money to push its Pentium CPU into the
- market, and I think Intel has succeeded much more over the Power PC.
-
- I may be wrong, but I think there are more people choosing Pentiums as
- their new PCs rather than the Power PC if they have a choice.

- No. I don't think so either. However, there will be 686, 786, and maybe
- even 886 or 986.
-
- Intel hasn't produced a 80686 CPU chip yet.
- Yet, I heard from my friend that Cryix has produced a 686 CPU based chip.

- Sad as it is... life is NOT always fair, and this is one of those
- cases. ;-))
-
- Better computer products, which you and I claim to be Amigas, don't get
- better appreciation than other lowly computers.
-
- Intel made a big mess in their CPU design by first introducing the 640K
- barrier from the start, and all the new CPUs they've been designing are
- just slapped on top of the old design.
-
- The Motorola CPU based chip is obviously a win over the INTEL base CPU
- chip. Motorla CPU chips do not impose the 640K barrier, and allow up to 1
- gig of addressing space. [Someone correct me here if I'm wrong.]
-
- However, the Motorola CPU based chip has not gained the recognition it
- deserves in comparison to INTEL, though Motorola CPU is better than INTEL
- CPU.
-
- How do you explain that?
- Both INTEL and MicroSoft have pushed very far to brainwash people into
- thinking that their products are "top notch" and "unchallenged" by other
- competing products.
- The labels "INTEL inside" and "MicroSoft" becomes --> "Buy me, sucker! ;-))"
- The common, orindary person going inside any computer store, and who
- doesn't have much knowledge about computers looks for these labels, and not
- the actual quality and horsepower of the computer under that "hood"--the
- chasis.
- The above is my perspective of how the computer market has turned into a
- dirty business by both INTEL and MicroSoft.
-
- : The only problem is you can get an 8meg Pentium for 650ukp + vat these

-
- Yes indeed--
- Pricing is an important factor. If Amigas and other good quality computers
- become too expensive for the orindary person to buy, he/she will just turn
- to the lower end computers.
-
- Amiga is up for the challenge. If it wants to stay competitive and stay
- alive in the computer market, it's going to need do a lot more to get the
- attention from home computer users as well as business people, keep prices
- down and affordable.
-
- Otherwise, Amiga may follow the doom of Commodore.
